ARAPIUNS

A freshwater Caribbean, warm all year, inside the forest. And you sleep there.

The beach is fresh water, clear to the bottom, and there are hardly any mosquitoes. That is the Arapiuns. The bungalows are timber, Tapajônica architecture, feet in the sand. Come for a few days — or come and live here. Why not?

The house

The doors are mahogany, inlaid: wedges of opposing grain radiating from an octagonal centre, cut and fitted by hand. The same octagon returns as a medallion on the interior doors.

The blankets are woven on a loom, checked in chocolate and oat. The veranda lamp is woven fibre. The bungalows are two-storey Tapajônica architecture. None of it came out of a catalogue — and that is why the Villa looks like no other lodge on the river.

“You arrive, drop your bags and head straight out. You come back tired in the best possible way — from the forest, the sun, the stories. You eat well and you sleep deeply.”
